Name: Paul Fotkou, or “Pascali” Greek heritage

Role: Independent optometrist

How long have you been an optometrist? I am approaching 25 years in my field. In 1998, I entered the world of aberrations. Where has the time gone!

What do you love about your job? Travelling. I have been lucky enough to visit some incredible places because of work! From going to the optical trade fairs in Paris & Milan is a highlight of each year, to working in remote indigenous communities in South Australia or through the South Pacific!

Favourite specs and why? The Aviator. Being a 70’s child, I have always been drawn to the simplicity of a fine stainless steal teardrop shape. And they also suit big heads. Coincidentally, I have a big head!

Most interesting customers: I am lucky to deal with a wide variety of people from the arts to the sciences. Being involved with aviation, I always get drawn into old veteran’s stories. I was fortunate enough to have been shown through the Solomon Islands and role it played in World War 2 in the Battle of Guadalcanal. The Allies commenced their first major offensive against the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1942.

Cool fact about you: I am nut for vintage things. Glasses, watches…

Favourite food: My food palette is simple. I am very appreciative of all foods. Please no desserts, I cannot resist.

Spare time: No spare time with 3 young children!

Name: Nadia

Role: Manager/optical dispenser

How long have you been an optical dispenser? 16 years

What do you love about your job? I love all aspects. The customer service, having to be a good listener, and being a stylist and repair mechanic.

Favourite specs and why? Anything and everything. Frame consultations are my passion and I love being about to see a pair of frames and immediately think of the perfect person to wear them. I believe that you should never wear the same colour or shape but instead push yourself to go out of your comfort zone.

Most interesting customers: People who will entrust themselves and change their look completely, and they come back to let you know how much you have changed their lives.

Cool fact about you: I can make shoes.

Favourite food: All!

Spare time: Sewing, knitting, pattern making.

Name: Bree Wilkie

Role: Marketing Coordinator

How long have you been in the industry? I have been in the industry 2 years now, after graduating from my Marketing Communication degree in 2020. Previously, I had experience as a Marketing Intern for an international company. I wear glasses and contact lenses so I am aware of the latest trends and have sufficient knowledge about eyes and eye exams!

What do you love about your job? Being able to see and work with the latest trends in eyewear and fashion. Also having the opportunity to get creative in marketing and photography and challenging myself in this role.

Favourite specs and why? Currently loving the titanium/metal frame look as there are so many new shapes being designed. Or a simple crystal frame.

Most interesting customers: Individuals who are willing to try something new! A bold new frame or something completely out of their comfort zone. It’s satisfying being able to help that customer and watch as they try new things and explore their creative side.

Cool fact about you: I am apart of a dance crew and we have a Youtube channel with over 150k subscribers! I have been dancing for most of my life and love it.

Favourite food: Any type of Italian or Asian cuisine I enjoy.

Spare time: Dancing, karaoke, photography, or hanging out with my cat and friends.

Best Adelaide bar/restaurant: +82-Pocha, Bai Long Store, 400 Gradi, KPub, MayQ to name a few! All of these places have a great vibe, and delicious food.
