Paul Fotkou
Meet Our Optometrist, Paul Fotkou
Name: Paul Fotkou, or “Pascali” Greek heritage
Role: Independent optometrist
How long have you been an optometrist? I am approaching 21 years in my field. In 1998, I entered the world of aberrations. Where has the time gone!
What do you love about your job? Travelling. I have been lucky enough to visit some incredible places because of work! From going to the optical trade fairs in Paris & Milan is a highlight of each year, to working in remote indigenous communities in South Australia or through the South Pacific!
Favourite specs and why? The Aviator. Being a 70’s child, I have always been drawn to the simplicity of a fine stainless steal teardrop shape. And they also suit big heads. Coincidentally, I have a big head!
Most interesting customers: I am lucky to deal with a wide variety of people from the arts to the sciences. Being involved with aviation, I always get drawn into old veteran’s stories. I was fortunate enough to have been shown through the Solomon Islands and role it played in World War 2 in the Battle of Guadalcanal. The Allies commenced their first major offensive against the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1942.
Cool fact about you: I am nut for vintage things. Glasses, watches…
Favourite food: My food palette is simple. I am very appreciative of all foods. Please no desserts, I cannot resist.
Spare time: No spare time with 3 young children!
Best Adelaide bar/restaurant: Bar Torino (they’re Local)
Nadia Morrison
Meet Our Manager, Nadia Morrison
Name: Nadia
Role: Manager/optical dispenser
How long have you been an optical dispenser? 12 years
What do you love about your job? I love all aspects. The customer service, having to be a good listener, and being a stylist and repair mechanic.
Favourite specs and why? Anything and everything. Frame consultations are my passion and I love being about to see a pair of frames and immediately think of the perfect person to wear them. I believe that you should never wear the same colour or shape but instead push yourself to go out of your comfort zone.
Most interesting customers: People who will entrust themselves and change their look completely, and they come back to let you know how much you have changed their lives.
Cool fact about you: I can make shoes.
Favourite food: All!
Spare time: Sewing, knitting, pattern making.
Best Adelaide bar/restaurant: My kitchen!
Hannah Robson-Thoo
Meet Our Marketing Coordinator, Hannah Robson-Thoo
Name: Hannah
Role: Marketing coordinator
How long have you been in the industry? I graduated from my marketing degree at UniSA in 2019, but have previously worked in retail. Everybody in my family except for me wears glasses though so I’ve done my fair share of frame shopping.
What do you love about your job? I love that the online marketing field is constantly changing. There is always something new being developed to help businesses get more reach.
Favourite specs and why? Anything big. I have bigger cheeks so I find bigger frames usually cover them up a little bit haha.
Most interesting customers: I love meeting all the kids that come in for their eye exams. Especially when they get to pick their frames and wear them for the first time.
Cool fact about you: I’m the youngest of 6 kids.
Favourite food: I’m embarrassed to say it, but I can’t go past chicken nuggets. I’m still a child at heart. Otherwise I love all sorts of Italian food.
Spare time: I’m either doing something active like playing sports, running with my dogs or the complete opposite like staying in and watching Netflix.
Best Adelaide bar/restaurant: Chicco Palms. I love the food and the vibe of the restaurant.
