Indigenous Eye Health Care
The rate of blindness in Indigenous adults is three times the rate of non-Indigenous adults. Many of the causes of blindness are preventable with regular eye exams. Simple access to prescription eyewear is the main cause of resolving “refractive blindness”. Paul Fotkou is committed to providing vision services throughout remote South Australia.
The provision of good quality eye services is a fundamental part of improving the health of Indigenous Australians. Through visiting clinics throughout South Australia, Paul Fotkou is part of a team whose aim is “Vision for all“ by improving the quality and sustainability of eye care services to these remote communities.
