Our team of optical dispensers have a crucial role in the day to day running at Adelaide City Optometrist. Our optical dispensers work closely with our optometrists, whilst also interacting directly with patients, addressing their concerns, answering questions, and ensuring a patient-centred clinical experience. Our optical dispensers also educate patients on proper insertion, removal, and care of contact lenses.

During the past few months, ACO welcomed Zeiss representatives to teach our optical dispensers more about dispensing skills, and Zeiss products. These sessions have been so valuable to our team. As the optometry industry is constantly evolving with technological advancements. Upskilling helps to inform our optical dispensers about the latest developments in dispensing technology, lens materials, lens customisation, lens coatings, and manufacturing techniques. This knowledge is essential for providing the best product to meet the specific needs of each individual’s prescription.
Why are precise measurements pivotal?
Precision is pivotal when taking patients measurements, which is why we take two measurements, both manually, and digitally. These measurements ensure the most accurate fitting parameters. Our Zeiss Centration Device, digitally takes into consideration your facial anatomy, the angle that the frames sits on your face, pupil distance, and pupil heights. All of these factors are fundamental to achieve optimal vision correction, ensuring visual comfort, and enhancing the overall performance of eyewear. Precision in measurements are the cornerstone, in delivering high-quality eyecare services.
With an increasing variety of eyewear options, including progressive lenses, anti-reflective coatings, and specialised materials, our optical dispensers need to be well-versed in product knowledge to meet the diverse needs of our patients. Upskilling ensures that our team can recommend and explain the benefits of various products accurately. Additionally by staying informed about the latest eye health information, dispensers can educate customers on the importance of regular eye exams, proper eyewear usage, and overall eye health.
Improved customer service and interpersonal skills enhance the overall customer experience, fostering trust. This diversified expertise enables optical dispensers to cater to a broad spectrum of customer needs.
Upskilling ensures that our optical dispensers are well-informed about industry trends, enabling them to proactively adapt to changes and provide services that align with current market demands. In recent years an example of this is blue light reading glasses. Learning about the latest technological trends demonstrates our commitment to our teams development to provide our patients with professional service. At ACO we foster a well rounded approach, in our consistent pursuit of growth in technical expertise, customer-centric skills, and adaptability to industry trends.
