Stacey Vine: the man, the myth, the legend (and snooker champion) visited ACO with a query about making a pair of glasses to assist in his snooker tournaments. At ACO we try and do our best to help each and every client, so we said ‘OK we’ll see what we can do’ and made up a pair for Stacey with his request in mind. We were also lucky enough to ask him some questions about his history of success in the sport, which are in this article.
A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
My name is Stacey Vine, and I am a professional snooker player. I played in the England seniors team from 2013-2017. My hobbies include pool, snooker and pc gaming. Some achievements include:
5 x world team
UK tour winner
Played for England for 8 years
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING SNOOKER?
I have been playing snooker for 34 years.
WOULD YOU CONSIDER SNOOKER TO BE MORE DIFFICULT THAN POOL?
I find that snooker is more difficult, there are more things to consider in the game as well as 22 balls instead of 9.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING THING ABOUT THE GAME?
Not being able to get a sharp edge, which is a reason why I am trying out the specially designed glasses.
IF YOU WEREN’T PLAYING SNOOKER WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?
Playing pool, fishing, soccer or pc gaming.
ACO MADE UP SOME SPECIAL GLASSES THAT WILL ASSIST YOUR GAMES. HOW DOES THIS MECHANISM HELP?
There is more flexibility in the temples which means when I am low towards the table, they will be able to sit in a spot on my face where the vision is clearest without blurred edges. The accuracy is important in snooker, therefore you need the right glasses to assist with the game. Hopefully these glasses will do exactly that.
Adelaide City Optometrist stock performance brands such as Smith, Carrera and Adidas which are recommended to aid sports such as cricket, cycling and fishing and now we can proudly say we aid snooker games as well. We have previously made a blog post on sports vision, so you can check that out! Also check out our online store to browse frames and/or book an eye test today.
