Meet Ola – Product Designer

A bit about yourself?

Hi I’m Ola, I studied a Bachelor degree in Industrial and Product Design at University of South Australia, on top of that I spent 8 months studying at University of Twente in the Netherlands. I have had almost 3 years experience in the optical world and love everything about the design process. Hobbies of mine include running, coffee dates, photography/filming, website design and glasses design. Something i am looking forward to this year is a half marathon after experiencing a big accident in 2020 which left me unable to exercise or run for a good portion of the year.

What part of the design process do you like the most?

The initial concepting is quite enjoyable as it allows me to be creative and think outside the box. Also being able to refine the details. With eyewear in particular, there is a lot of trial and error and ever changing styles, so being able to evolve as a designer whilst the styles evolve helps with the process and creation.

What are some of your short-term/long-term goals with design?

To design a unique but up to date range for Pascali. To be able to design pieces for individuals who aren’t afraid of wearing statement frames.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a product designer?

I think i’d still be in the design field but instead it would be architecture or interior design.

Favourite designer(s) or people that inspire you?

With designers, i am inspired by: Studio Sabine Marcelis

I love the colours, textures and designs used.

Also being huge into architecture (mostly residential) i love both minimal and loud design. An example of this is simple outfits with neutral colours but pops of colour in accessories.
